My Family Alarm ("we", "us", or "our") operates the My Family Alarm mobile application (the "App") and the familyalarm.com website. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Apple ID information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided user identifier and, optionally, your name and email address (or a private relay email).
- Display name: The name you choose to display to family members.
- Avatar color: Your chosen profile color.
Family Data
- Family name: The name your family group uses.
- Family membership: User identifiers of family members for sharing alarms.
- Invite codes: Temporary codes for family member invitations.
Alarm Data
- Alarm settings: Times, titles, repeat schedules, sound preferences.
- Alarm events: When alarms are triggered, dismissed, or snoozed.
- Target information: Which family member each alarm is for.
Device Information
- Device identifier: A unique identifier for your device.
- Device name: Used to identify which device an alarm is on.
- Push notification token: Required to deliver alarm notifications.
Usage Data
- Crash reports: If enabled, crash data to help us fix bugs.
- Analytics events: Basic usage patterns (alarm creation, family joins) without personal details.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Deliver alarm notifications to the correct devices
- Sync alarms across your family's devices
- Display family member information
- Send important notifications about alarms
- Improve app reliability and fix bugs
Data Storage and Security
- Firebase / Google Cloud: Your data is stored securely using Firebase Firestore with encryption at rest and in transit.
- Access control: Firestore security rules ensure you can only access your own data and your family's shared data.
- No third-party sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
Family Data Sharing
When you join or create a family:
- Family members can see shared alarm information
- Family members can see your display name and avatar color
- Parents can create and manage alarms for children
- Admins can manage family settings
The familyalarm.com Website
The familyalarm.com website is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and collects no personal information. If you email us from the site, we receive only what you choose to send.
Your Rights
You can:
- Delete your account: Sign out and request data deletion
- Leave a family: Remove your data from a family group
- Update your information: Change your display name and preferences
- Export your data: Request a copy of your data
Data Retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active
- Alarm event history is retained for 90 days
- Deleted alarms are removed immediately
- When you leave a family, your data is removed from that family
Children's Privacy
My Family Alarm is designed for families, including children:
- Child profiles are managed by parents
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent
- Parents can view and delete children's alarm data
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email.
California Privacy Rights
